Coursera offers the world’s best courses Online for free
We are THRILLED to announce that 12 universities — including three international institutions — will be joining Princeton University, Stanford University, University of Michigan, and University of Pennsylvania in offering classes on Coursera.
Coursera, a startup launched by two Stanford professors last year 2011, is partnering with 12 major research universities to offer more than 100 free online courses in a variety of topics. Millions of people around the world are expected to enroll for the free online courses.
The courses are not just videotaped lectures. They’re streamed in real-time, and they’re increasingly interactive, giving the professor the option to pause and instantly poll the students to see if they understand what she’s just said. They include regular assignments and multiple-choice tests, and Coursera is rolling out a program for humanities classes that would have students grade one another’s essays.
On Coursera, you will now be able to access world-class courses from:
