Do you Blog on Mobile Phone?
What kind of mobile phone are you using? If it’s anything more or a bit less in functionality than my Nokia 3230 phone, you can use it to build a blog and eventually make some decent income out of it. There are several ways of making money online but blogging is my favorite because it can become a real business with unending passive income if done right. You just have to invest some time and effort doing it right. Thanks to technology, I figured how you can build a blog from a not-so sophisticated mobile phone. Even without a personal computer, you can blog from your mobile phone, like I did.
Blogging on mobile phone is not so common, but I foresee a trend of young resourceful people moving from a life of want to building income generating online businesses starting from their mobile phones. I did it and so can you. Think about it, what more is yet to be possible on mobile devices these days?
If you already spend time regularly on 2go, Facebook, Twitter and such other social networking sites or playing games and other mobile applications, on your mobile phone, you can as well build and maintain a blog from your phone and eventually make good income from it. I make daily income from my blog which I built from my Nokia 3230 mobile phone. I now work from my PC but still leverage my blogging activity on the go. Small starts, right? It doesn’t really matter how small you start.
The hard part about making money online is building a blog with a good amount of Traffic (regular visitors). Once your blog starts getting a decent amount of traffic, you can start making money that is worthy of your effort. But you first have to build a blog that is visitors-satisfaction focused. Blogging with the singular aim of making money online almost always end with the blogger quitting the venture. You need to love what you do and do it with love. My mobile-initiated blog currently has over 3000 daily page views with about 1300 daily visitors; over 4000 email subscribers and earn me more than an average fresh graduate’s monthly salary. I don’t earn much yet compared to what other blogger are making online, but considering how it all started (with my Nokia phone), and my blog’s growth rate, it’s really something to Wow about.
How to start to blog on mobile Phone
Not so fast. You’ll have almost everything you need to get started on this blog, starting on this page. But first let’s talk about blogging platforms.
Blogger or WordPress
There are several blogging platforms on the internet but Blogger and WordPress beat the others hands down. For freshers, Blogger.com is a free blogging platform. All you need do is register your blog and get started (though you need to do some structural work to get a cleaner blog). Your blog will then have a link like yourname.blogspot.com. If you want your blog to look more serious (not mean but more like a blog with a purpose), you can buy a domain name for $10 (www.yourblogname.com) and still host it for free on blogger.
WordPress however, comes in two versions – wordpress.com (free) and wordpress.org (paid). This blog, Blogerian.com is hosted on the paid version of wordpress (the .org). If you don’t see yourself making money from third-party advertising like Google Adsense, Chitika etc on your blog; that is, you just want to blog for the love of writing and may be recommend a few affiliate products from time to time, I’ll recommend you register a wordpress.com blog. But if you want to jump-start to professional blogging, and can afford to invest a few bucks to pay for hosting, then wordpress.org is your right choice.
However, if you’ll be blogging more on your mobile phone, which is what this article is all about, then blogger.com is your perfect choice. This is the platform I host my first blog which I built from my mobile phone. The blog keeps growing by the day and even out perform a number of blogs in the same niche, that are hosted on paid wordpress.org, which is more advanced than blogger. To put it clearly, I’d say your blogging platform is not as important as your blogging motivation. You can build a successful blog regardless of your blogging platform. So you can as well build a success blog starting from your mobile phone on blogger/blogspot platform. It’s the Man (or Woman) not the Machine. But more advanced machines (wordpress.org in this case) can make your work more efficient anyway. I hope you get the picture?

Blogging from your phone is okay in theory but typing out long blog posts on your phone can cause all sorts of problems with repetative strain injury and eye strain. I’d hate to type out long blog posts from my phone!
Ikenna Odinaka says
Yeah Harriet, initially I hated to, but as time went on I got used to it..
With the issue of eye problem, I simply put my phone light to it’s lowest display and didn’t feel any sort of stain injury. I tend to feel more eye strain working from a pc (had to reduce the brightness to it’s lowest too). Having blogged from mobile for close to one year before I started blogging fully on PC, I think it was fun and I still do it once in a while. Like, I’m replying you from my phone while on a 30minutes ride. You may want to give it a try for once when you’re not on PC. It won’t hurt..
